Zwift + AthleteData: Coach Workouts on Your Zwift Home Screen
Connect Zwift to AthleteData and your AI coach's planned rides appear on your Zwift home screen automatically, while every finished ride flows back into your coaching.

Your coach's workout, already on the home screen
Indoor training has a quiet ritual: build or find the workout, get it into the right app, and only then start pedaling. If your plan lives anywhere outside Zwift, that usually means exporting a file or rebuilding intervals by hand, every single time the plan changes.
Connect Zwift to AthleteData and that ritual disappears. Your AI coach plans your training around your recovery, your goals, and everything your other devices report. Every planned cycling session lands on your Zwift home screen by itself, on the day it is scheduled, as a structured workout ready to start. Ride it, save it, and the result is back with your coach before you have toweled off.
AthleteData is an official Zwift Training Partner, using Zwift's partner API in both directions: workouts in, results out.
What the connection does
Workouts in. Every cycling session in your rolling training plan that carries structured intervals is scheduled onto your Zwift home screen for its planned day. The workout appears under the athletedata name, for example "athletedata: Threshold 4x8min", with the full structure: warmup, work and recovery repeats, ramps, free-ride efforts, cooldown. Power targets are sent as percentages of FTP, so Zwift renders watts using the FTP you have set in Zwift itself. AthleteData never overrides your Zwift FTP.
Results out. When you save a ride in Zwift, AthleteData is notified within moments. The ride lands in your training history with duration, power, heart rate, cadence, and elevation, plus depth the summary alone does not carry: the per-interval structure and normalized power are read from the ride file itself. Your coach reacts in chat the way it does to any ride, the matching plan session is marked completed, and your fitness and fatigue numbers update.
Honest state, both ways. If you end a workout early, your coach knows it was cut short and by how much, and the session is not falsely marked as done. If you ride something other than the plan, a free ride or a race, it syncs and counts too.
Setting it up
- Go to the Integrations page on your AthleteData dashboard.
- Find the Zwift tile and click Connect.
- Log in on Zwift's page and approve access.
That is the entire setup. Your upcoming planned rides are scheduled to Zwift immediately, and your recent Zwift history (up to 90 days) syncs into your training log. There are no files, no manual sync button, and nothing to redo when the plan changes.
How scheduling behaves
- Workouts appear on your Zwift home screen on the day they are planned, in your local timezone. A session your coach adds for today shows up right away; tomorrow's session appears tomorrow.
- When the plan changes, the scheduled copy in Zwift is replaced. You never accumulate stale duplicates.
- Deleting a session from your plan removes it from Zwift.
- Two rides on the same day both appear, each as its own workout.
- Only structured cycling sessions push. Runs, swims, strength work, and prose-only easy days do not appear in Zwift, though your coach can still put those on a watch. See the watch push guide for how the same plan reaches Garmin, COROS and Apple Watch.
Troubleshooting
The workout is not on my home screen. Check the date: sessions appear on their planned day, not in advance. If it is today's session, reopen the home screen so Zwift refreshes its list. Your coach can confirm in chat whether the session was scheduled, and to which day.
The watts look wrong. Zwift computes the watts from your in-Zwift FTP. If it is out of date, update it in Zwift under your profile settings; every scheduled workout scales instantly. Tell your coach your tested FTP too, so the plan's intent and Zwift's rendering agree.
I finished a ride but the coach has not mentioned it. Give it a couple of minutes after saving. If it still has not appeared, make sure the ride was actually saved in Zwift rather than discarded, and that the connection still shows as Connected on the Integrations page.
I want to stop the sync. Disconnect on the AthleteData Integrations page, or on zwift.com under My Account, then Connections. Either way the connection is fully revoked on both sides: scheduled workouts stop appearing and no further data flows.
Why this pairing works
Zwift makes indoor riding something you look forward to. What it cannot see is the rest of your life: last night's sleep, yesterday's run, the race you are building toward, the fatigue from a heavy week. AthleteData's coach sees all of it, across every device you connect, and plans accordingly.
Connected, they cover each other's blind spots. The coach decides what today should be, based on everything it knows about you. Zwift makes doing it engaging. And because the result flows straight back, tomorrow's decision is already better informed. No files in between.
