This gives you a snapshot. athletedata connects to Strava, Garmin, WHOOP, and Oura to give you an AI coach that builds race plans around your actual training and recovery data.
Select your race distance and toggle the options that apply to you. The checklist adjusts automatically - longer distances add special needs bags, wetsuits add anti-chafe and storage items.
Hit print to get a clean checklist you can lay out next to your gear the night before. Check items off as you pack them. The most common race morning panic is forgetting something simple like goggles or your timing chip.
For Ironman races, pack your special needs bags early. You will drop them off during race check-in the day before, so they need to be ready by then.
At minimum: goggles, a bike with a helmet, running shoes, and a tri suit or swimsuit with shorts over it. Everything else is optional. Most beginners overthink gear - keep it simple for your first race.
Depends on water temperature. Most races allow wetsuits below 76F (24.5C) and require them below 60F (15.5C). A wetsuit adds buoyancy and warmth but takes practice to get on and off quickly. You can rent one for your first race.
Anything you might want mid-race but cannot carry from the start. Common items: extra nutrition, fresh socks, chamois cream, anti-chafe, a backup pair of sunglasses. You access the bike bag around mile 56 and the run bag around mile 13.
Timing chip, followed closely by race bib and body glide. Set your timing chip strap on your ankle the night before. Put your bib on your race belt. Apply anti-chafe before you leave the house.
